[4:48:13 PM] Once apon a time there was the C64. And it was good. Then there was the game 'Elite', and it was great. Now there is the critique, and it makes me want to go out, get a C64 emulator and play again... How Anti-Shoplifting Devices Work - pretty cool article, and the site (how stuff works) is pretty darn cool too. Mummm... more info on Yopy, the Linux PDA...

i just realized that half of the links below were actually posted yesterday... i'm not sure why i thought yesterday was the 26th. Not a big deal, it just looks like i did a lot of surfing today! You know, i've always wanted to go hang-gliding, or learn to fly. Now what i want is one of these! Looking for somebody to do your credit card transactions? Check out Kagi.com. They seem to have a pretty good payment scheme... 6.5% i think on average... Here is the page from the FAQ Nice VW ad i'd not seen before. Quicktime, 3Meg's or so. Only in Japan... Fake fingernails that glow when you use your cell phone... Pretty cool tech - quarter sized disk's that hold 1/2 gig of info... If you liked the link below, check out their other cool project - circadia. Geezzz, one of the few times i really regret not having a Mac... Hey all you mac-head's out there - if you like interesting UI's check this out. Two interesting rants by mr.bad - one about the whole Elian Gonzales thing, the other about earthday. Shit ass weather over the weekend. Bad (as in, not just bad tasting, but make you barf bad) food. Rotten Vanilla extract (dont ask). How was your weekend? (ok, ok, it was actually really nice to get out of TO for the weekend, but i just had to have a bit of a rant. And i'm tired. )
April 20 2000
I hope everyone has a nice weekend, especially if you get a long one!
April 19 2000
Hey, check out liketelevision.com - you can watch Night of the living dead online! Weeeeee...

Yet another story, this one at Salon.com Another story about Mr. Gory from Karen. Thanks to Russ for this bit of sad news - Edward Gory has passed away. I remember getting my first Gory book - Amphigorey - and being spellbound by his images and black humour. I've started, and never finished, an animated version of one of his stories (The Inanimate Tragedy) and had imagined talking with him about releasing it 'officially'. Perhaps this will motivate me to actually finish it... This is a good page of links to Gory stuff, via Russ as well. You can read the story from the NYTimes.

Some leftie info for ya'll - The English word "sinister" comes from the Latin word for left. The Roman definition, however, was not so evil but more clandestine - since the "sinus," or pocket, side of the toga was where things could be concealed.

Added a link (just up above) to the BurningMan 2000 webboard i set up. This is pretty cool - a site which tracks recently 'expired' domain names. uniquedomains.com Do you miss the day's of analogue synth's? miss all those knobs to turn to make crazy sounds? Well, i have just the thing for you - the Andromeda by Alesis. This thing has more dials then i can count (ok, 72 knobs and 144 buttons). Looks like fun! More Palm stuff for doctor types - Palm and ePocrates™ Team to Deliver Custom Handheld Solution for Healthcare Professionals - the epocrates.com site seems to have medical stuff for the pilot...

Hey, a cool thing that involves fire, rockets, and you can build in your kitchen! Matchstick Rockets! Get'em now! UNCLE BOOGER'S BUMPER DUMPER TM - no, really. I was trolling slashdot and came across this - Top 12 things likely to be overheard from a Klingon Programmer:
12) "Specifications are for the weak and timid!"
11) "This machine is a piece of GAGH! I need dual Pentium processors if I am to do battle with this code!"
10) "You cannot really appreciate Dilbert unless you've read it in the original Klingon."
9) "Indentation?! - I will show you how to indent when I indent your skull!"
8) "What is this talk of 'release'? Klingons do not make software 'releases'. Our software 'escapes' leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake."
7) "Klingon function calls do not have 'parameters' - they have 'arguments' - and they ALWAYS WIN THEM."
6) "Debugging? Klingons do not debug. Our software does not coddle the weak."
5) "I have challenged the entire quality assurance team to a Bat-Leth contest. They will not concern us again."
4) "A TRUE Klingon Warrior does not comment his code!"
3) "By filing this bug report you have challenged the honor of my family. Prepare to die!"
2) "You question the worthiness of my code? I should kill you where you stand!"
1) "Our users will know fear and cower before our software! Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!"

Man, some seriously crazy weather over the weekend. Was going to go hiking, but there was too much snow! Snow?! Should have gone 'boarding! Saw a really good play on Sunday - "I might be Edgar Allen Poe". Archived March.
April 7 2000
We, here in Toronto, are supposed to get some kind of a Snowstorm over the weekend! Geezzz... Crazy weather. Very cool tech - but you cant have it yet. Ok, i know that Tony ripped this one off somebody else, and i am now ripping him off, but its too good to miss - Gillian Anderson, almost naked, and eating pie, and yes, that is the name of the site. Very funny.
April 5 2000
Tony was complaining that i was making no sense with my link to the Burningman stuff below. I was going to be indignant, but then i read what i wrote and have to agree... Don't miss the 12'th Annual Bigfoot Conference! And its free! But its in Ohio. sigh. Cool java app - J-Track. Want to know where Mir is right now? How about those weather satellites? Give it a go. Ok, so i had yesterday off and am feeling a bit better now, thank you.
April 4 2000
I am so lazy and tired and pissed - its raining, and i rode my bike to work, so i'm just sitting here, surfin' the 'net, basically wasting time. pretty pitiful. but i really dont want to ride home in the rain. Really dont. Poo. and its early in the morning. And i just get another email from the Burningman people about another event in "Portrero Hill in San Francisco", what the hell good does that do me? Huh?! Poo. You know, its dangerous to be editing your web page after too little sleep. You could ramble on for days, never really making any sense at all. Kind of like now. Ok, more crazy BMan stuff - remember the crazy bungie cord fight in MadMax III? Well, check these pictures out. There are a bunch of kind of cool / gothy picks there too... actually just a bunch of crazy stuff...
April 3 2000
Crap, another late night at work. I'm so sleepy. sigh. I set up a web-board for folks going to Burningman 2k. I'm mostly interesting in hearing from people that are going from around here, or Canada in general. Especially folks that have gone before and can share their knowledge about it... We are really close to releasing our (trapeze's) first original entertainment piece. That's why i'm still here, at work, bitter. But i do get to listen to 'Detroit Industrial Underground', so that's something...
April 2 2000
oneofthose has a new 'weblog' part to her site. and a new story on the main page. Check out the video for "Front Mission 3" (465k .AVI). April fool's day has come and gone. I was at work. And i'm not bitter. I did get emailed this link, which was pretty funny. Thanks Adrienne. Cibiko is now available! However, it has some of the worst marketing audio blurb's i've ever heard! Now, it could be that i am now so out of touch with the 'youth market' that i just don't get these blurb's, or that the 'youth market' is more stupid then i remember (which is possible, nobody likes to think they are stupid), but really, let me know. Listen here and here (mp3 format).
