  • No news is good news. Or something. Ba, humbug.
  • I ran for 45 min. today at lunch.
  • July 28 2000

  • Hey just got another email from my mom!
Hi Mom! Glad you are having a great time, everyone here is fine!
  • July 26 2000

  • Ok, i know the last 2 Highlander Films have really, well, sucked. But (!) this one actually looks pretty good. I can only surmise that Lambert's only star vehicle needed some polishing, and so another Highlander film becomes reality. Again, as long as its better then the last two. Hey, its got KungFu like action and swords! That's got to be good! I hope
  • Very strange video - Heart and Soul. Thanks to Reb for this one.
  • Had to take a break after that day of many posts. Tony has some good updates from the past 2 days.
  • Finally, some good news! Read the updates of the MPAA vs. 2600 court case at the EFF. Good reading, and, hopefully, some good rulings...
  • In some kind of freakish accident, i was at the gym at 7:30am this morning. And worked out for an hour. And, most surprisingly, feel pretty good about it...
  • July 24 2000

  • On a lighter note again - cool interactive audio ecards!
  • Ok, overload of Slashdot posts i know, but i really think this is important. More info on the MPAA vs. 2600 DeCSS case. You should really read the letter from John Perry Barlow (co-founder of the EFF). And some of the links in the article. Make up your own mind, but, fuck am i mad at the MPAA, RIAA and pretty much all the corporate bastards that are in on this whole thing. Its a last grasp for them, cuz they have seen the internet and it scares them. Rightfully so, and the article below regarding Stephen King is an example - i'm sure if there were some larger corporation or a more monopolistic agency involved with the production and distribution of books, we would be seeing similar litigious action against authors audacious enough to think about publishing on their own... Actually that doesn't make a lot of sense, but i'm pretty pissed, so forgive me for not making total sense (tho, i don't make sense most of the time, so it shouldn't be a big stretch).
  • Very interesting story at Slashdot about what Stephen King is doing with his next Novel. It is also related to the "Street Performer's Protocol". I really like the SPP, and its unfortunate that SK's 'version' of it is (i think) pretty much doomed to fail, and the media (whatever that is) will make a big bruhaha about the inability of the 'net to be a distribution system, which i disagree with. SK's method is flawed, and i really like the SPP and believe that it could and would work. Also, for things like this to work, we still need a better payment scheme, not just credit cards, something like paypal, in addition to a trusted and well known escrow service (and i am bitter that paypal doesn't offer their service to those of us in Canada).
  • On the positive side, i got my neon wire (the site is pretty bad) the other day! Expensive, but way way cool!
  • Sorry that the updates have not been more inspiring or interesting... I've been a bit off the "I have a website that I update" bug for a bit. I may just have a bit of a rant building up inside of me... Not sure what form it will take, but i can feel it building... Could be all the Greg Egan stuff i've been reading - I highly recommend his books, very thought provoking, hard bio/science/social fiction. But some of them are a bit dark. And not in the way Nuromancer is "dark", but make you think dark.
  • Saw "Snake Deadly Act" at the Royal on Friday - more good KungFu action!
  • Much Icewind Dale'ing over the weekend! More fun then you can shake an Ice Troll at. Or something.
  • Ah the end of another weekend... Here's a little story to keep you going - Chew Chew, the meat powered robot. Really.
  • July 20 2000

  • Thread's of Fate for Playstation has been released! And it got a great review at DailyRadar.com.
  • July 17 2000

  • Yep, its Monday. Saw the Xmen yesterday. Actually pretty good - Wolverine and Rogue were the best parts of the film. Over all, it was a good adaptation of the comic, which kind of surprised me. I was sure it was going to suck.
  • Ok, other then the fact that its running WinCE, this PDA looks pretty damn cool.
  • Ok, more cool pixelated graphics in isomorphic views - netbaby!
  • July 16 2000

  • Ah Sunday, a lovely day to be in the office!
  • Picked up two new albums on Friday - VNV Nation / Empires and Mentallo & the Fixer / Love is the Law. Both are great, tho i think i prefer the VNV Nation album right now. Ya, the playing it over and over all day long kind of gives it away
  • Went to another wedding yesterday - 2 down, 1 more to go!!! At least till September... <sigh>
  • Meeting up with a bunch of other Toronto folks going to Burningman tomorrow... closer and closer!
  • July 14 2000

  • Ok, so, is it just me, or does Joy Division not totally rock? Re-listening to Day of the Lords off Unknown Pleasures, and i'm just struck by how much this stuff seems to fit into today's music, not as dated as some music produced at the same time. Of course, i'm highly biased, so that might enter into it a bit... Maybe... Slightly... Can you tell that this bit is really just a plug for Joy Division? Ok, good, continue on...
  • Wicked! The Burningman Network - PlayaNET. Read the article at wired. Soooo cooolll. Alright, where is my laptop! Wireless ethernet card here i come! Weeeeeeee! Thanks to Alex J for this great find.
  • Interesting little article on the X-man film over at Now. From Ciara.
  • July 13 2000

  • Fuck man, even 680 News is talking about the damn 'survivor' show! I really Really don't give a damn who gets kicked off the bloody island!!! Enough already, ok? Geezzz, get a life or something... See the next post to realize why that is a pretty ironic statement for me to make...
  • Spent several hours playing Icewind Dale with Ciara last night. AD&D Multiplayer goodness... We killed lots of goblins... Ok, OK, I'm a geek, get over it!
  • Cool electric cars. I'd like one.
  • July 12 2000

  • Fun shockwave game, from Bryan R.
  • Had a bit of a Horror Movie Craving last night, which i satiated with a viewing of John Carpenters "Prince of Darkness". Ah yes, AJ Simon with a really bad mustache! Ah, its a fun film.
  • I also rented some Anime - Lain. There are 4 tapes at Suspect Video, so i guess that's all there are, i just watched the first. Really good and weird, sort of Matrix-ish / Ghost in the Shell... Very minimalistic. Looking forward to seeing the other tapes!
  • July 10 2000

  • Ok, if you liked the Disco thing from below, you will love this - Snowball! You can play a game of snowball, with 4 people or bot's on a team!... Fun! Check it out here.
  • Whew, first of the 3 wedding's this month over! It was on Saturday, and outside, so thankfully it was quite nice - no rain, not too hot. And a short service!
  • Ciara and I went to our first Swing lesson lastnight. Pretty fun, and those Ballroom dancing lesson's i took over a decade ago are really paying off! (pufft, ya right). Big thanks to Geoff for putting them on. Check out his site, and buy some music!
  • July 7 2000

  • Wow, really cool virtual disco/multiuser chat thing done in D8. Check it out! Don't forget to dance!
  • Great article/manifesto on the coming change in the computer industry. THE SECOND COMING — A MANIFESTO - from slashdot.
  • hehe, the rudest search engine - www.searchbastard.com.
  • So, it being the month of many (3) weddings, I have to get some clothes. Some nice clothes. Through some strange set of circumstances, last night i ended up at Harry Rosin. And actually bought some nice dress pants and a shirt. No tie, tho the guy who was helping me tried to get me to buy one. Actually, he was very nice, and made an otherwise short visit into a sale.
  • Also in the course of shopping last night, Ciara and I bought "Icewind Dale" the new game from Bioware/BlackIsle Studios. And did some online play for a couple of hours. Fun.
  • July 6 2000

  • July 5 2000

  • June has been archived!
  • There was an article in the NP about Trapeze yesterday - you can read it here.
  • InsideXbox Graphics - Ok, ok, i know, its about the Xbox, but its written by Michael Abrash. Who the hell is that, i hear you asking... Well, way back when, i was actually coding ASM code on an old 286, this guy had written a bunch of articles about graphics coding in ASM. I hadn't heard about him since that time (like, over 10 years), so its kind of neat to read his stuff again... thats all...
  • Hey, remember Sealand and HavenCo? Well read some answers to questions put to the CTO of HavenCo - from Slashdot.
