  • June 27 2000

  • Getting sleepy... eyes closing... must... eat... sugary substance...
  • Hey! Baldurs Gate for the Mac is shipping in like 2 weeks. Cool. If you have a Mac, and like RPG's/D&D you should really check this game out.
  • Getting closer to cottage time...
  • Oi! had to rebuild the computer over the past few day's, so no updates! Ciara has her new computer set up now too, so we actually played some multiplayer 'Baldurs Gate'. pretty cool. Also picked up the add on 'Tales of the Sword Coast'. Fun.

    Hey, i've gone paranoid!
I've started to 'sign' all my email using PGP. I could also 'sign' all my updates
to this site (like i've done here), but i think that might be a *bit* over the top...
Anyway, if you have PGP (or GnuPGP) you can 'verify' that i wrote this...

  • Cool 'see through' iBook. From Mike McQ.
  • June 21 2000

  • Was helping out Ciara pick out a new computer, mostly so i can have mine back and she can play Baldur's Gate uninterupted!
  • Some cool Pilot art from the talented Mr. Humphries:
pic of tuna and wasabi pic of humphries' reflection
  • More reposting stuff from slashdot, but this is too good to miss - Interview/Q and A with Douglas Adams!
  • Ok, i know this appeard on Slashdot, but i think its a pretty important point, and a good article about that point - The Limits of Copyright. By Lawrence Lessig.
  • June 20 2000

  • More music I like - Sunset Gun, by The Damage Manual, whos show tonight was cancelled. Poo.
  • June 19 2000

  • Man, this song by Meme:334 just totally rocks.
  • Quick update to the BMan2k page.
  • Sad news - Bungie bought by Micro$soft. *sigh* While they make it out to sound not so bad, i grieve for the bungie that was... and Halo on PSX2!
  • interesting question asked on Slashdot - 'The future of making online revenue?'. Some good replies.
  • Brian from Detriot Industrial Underground wrote to tell me that he now has his own URL - www.detroitindustrial.org. Cool.
  • Saw 'Shaft' on the weekend. Pretty fun actually. The next film i'm looking forward to is 'The Perfect Storm'.
  • June 16 2000

  • Student Suspended Over Suspected Use of PHP - thanks to Bryan.
  • Catching up on my Sluggy Freelance. I was about a year behind.
  • Good bit about HDTV and the history of Television technology.
  • Interesting stats on the "internet economy".
  • iRadio.
  • If anybody is interested in buying me really expensive presents, you could check out this article and pretty much get me anything in it....
  • Riot on Queens park. Man, people are getting desperate. You have to be feeling pretty much with out power, to be in a position where violence like yesterdays is, you think, the only way to be heard by your government. Although i can't support the violence, i understand why it happened, i think. If i were not as fortunate as i am to have a great job, and lots of support, i would have probably been down there, looking for trouble too. The Star has a pretty good article about it.
  • June 15 2000

  • I know this will be old news to most of you too, but man does the Halo trailer look good! Note, the link might not work, cuz the server is *really* busy.
  • I don't know if any of you are into 'generative music' (AKA music generated by mathematical formula), but you should check this site out. Its a director app that takes the text of a page and does math magic to it to create ambient music. The write up about it is good too. Quite nice. I love stuff like this - a long time ago, like 15+ years, there was a great exhibit at the Science Center, where one of the cool things was an apple II (i think it was an apple II) with a basic 'interface' wired to it - you could increase the tempo, the delay on the notes, and 4 or 5 other basic musical elements. It would then 'generate' music. I loved that thing! I'd give just about anything to have a toy that did that - this is kind of like that, but you have no input, other then the text that gets read into the player... Irony! They (the OSC) actually have a special presentation on right now called "Music Makers: The Science of Sound". Looks like i have something to do this weekend!
  • Well. There you go.
  • June 14 2000

  • DR/EM ex-pat meet tonight. I'm sure it will for the most part disolve into diss'ing DR. *grin*
  • Also, the motorcycle is finally on the street! After many hours and TTC trips accross the city, the bike is all licenced up going. Whew. I'd forgotten how much fun it is.
  • Man, my mouth hurts. But my teeth are damn clean. Dentists.
  • June 13 2000

  • Wow. I just watched the NeverWinter Nights demo movie. The game is still a year away, and it looks unbeliveably good. Its going to be hard to wait.
  • I've got to say, the Roadwar 2000 series for the C64 were really fun games - i'm playing Roadwar Europa right now. Simple fun. Ah.
  • Oh man, you have to check this out - sissyfight.com. Super funny game. I go my 'Minmay'. Thank to Tony for this one.
  • Finished "A Prefect Storm" by Sebastian Junger. Really good. I'm quite looking forward to the movie too.
  • June 11 2000

  • I recieved this email in response to my bit about Hooters.
"for the record, although in my naivete I agreed to go to Hooters and thought it would be a laugh, I was ultimately fairly horrified at myself for supporting the company. It was worse than I could have imagined..." - Ciara Q.
  • Just archived May.
  • I may have posted this before, but i'm going to do it again - the english translation of "Macross the Movie". This was the first Japanimation film that i saw, and it totally got me into Animation. Ah, the old days. *sigh*
  • Hey, if you are not doing anything next sunday, you should come out and play some hacky sack with us...
  • June 10 2000

  • Muuumm, more yummie Portable Wireless Web-access devices!
  • Small site update. I've moved away from the DIV tags. It's all pretty much done by Tables now. Works pretty much with all browsers. See what happens when you start using Linux, and cant get X running, and have to use Lynx? You want to bloody well make sure you can read your own damn site! So there!
  • I would also like to take this moment to say again that i really dislike the service that Sympatico has given me. The speed is fine (xDSL), but the fact that its PPPoE, not straight ethernet sucks. Also, they have an 'invisible' proxy, so anytime i try to update my site, i cant see the updates! Bugger! Luckily, i'm a bit of a geek, and i can access other computers from here and use them to look at my pages, but its a kludge at best... anyway, i keep hoping that Look will have better service... have to phone them again...
  • Ok, so Ciara, Scott and I made a foray into the land of bad taste. Yes, we actually went and ate at Hooters. And i was the only one who didn't want to go. Anyway, it actually isn't too expensive, and the food doesn't suck. However, it is a short step removed from going to a strip club. And, no surprise, it's pretty much filled with guys ogling the waitresses. I'm just a bit uncomfortable with that level of sexual objectification. I mean, hey, i like to see a women who is well endowed as the next person, but when it is so blatant and over the top, it loses its 'naughyness' and becomes something else. Something i don't like. Anyway, that was my one and only trip to hooters. the other question that comes to mind is - what do these women do other then work at Hooters? There was a pretty large proportion of fake / enhanced boobige going on there...
  • June 9 2000

  • I hate to give this site any recognition, but they are just too fucked to pass by - CHRISTIAN FAMILY NETWORK. Man, they are way out there. Although they do have a good repository of Marilyn Manson's Lyrics...
  • June 7 2000

  • Hey all, just wanted to say 'Thanks' to all the folks who wrote give me some sympathy about my stolen bike. Also, my computer at work has been away, so i'm a bit behind on my email - Sorry!
  • Welcome back Tony from Trinidad!
  • Some good tips for Dating different kind's of 'Emotional Cripples'. (she also has a section on Bettie Page!) From Tony.
  • As you have no doubt heard, Microsoft will be broken up...
  • If you are into remote computer control, you might want to check out VNC. Its very cool - i've been using it for about a week now... Clients and Servers for *nix, Mac and Windoze. Java client will work in any Java aware browser... Nice.
  • Oh, and the motorcycle is still not ready - *sigh* - i'm hoping the parts i need will come in tomorrow...
  • And if you havent heard through Slashdot, you should check out HavenCo and SeaLand. If you read Cryptonomicon (and if you haven't, you should!), you have to check these out! Way cool.
