June 21, 1999Did you notice? Huh, did ya? I bet you didn't. I put the redesign up! I couldn't wait! I'm such a geek! Ah well. Hope you like it! Actually, it gives me more reason to use the news section too. Now as I re-release sections, I will keep you all up to date about it. I can feel the excitement oozing out of your pores. The anticipation. A slight shiver, goose bumps traveling along your arm. Epoch event this weekend. Not quite in the right frame of mind yet, but getting there. It should be the largest yet, 39 people pre-registered. Pretty amazing.
June 18, 1999Arg! FTP woes have befallen me, no updates in like... too long! Anyway, thanks again to the fast work of Geoff H., I am back in html business! Redesign is proceeding. I've have some excellent graphics from Ryan, and am producing some more, so the new site will be a bit more 'colourful', or at least graphical. Hopefully you will all like it. Went 'Rapid Rappelling this weekend. Pretty crazy fun! If you know what rappelling is, its like that, but you face the ground and run down the cliff face. Got some photos, and will post them here when they are developed.
June 16, 1999I know, no updates in a few days - been working on the redesign. Looking into CSS and server side includes, so research research research!
June 16, 1999Well, I'm going to finally do it. Yep, buy a computer. PII 400Mhz. And a name brand no less. Hewlett Packard Kayak XA. So all that really means is that I will get less sleep and spend more time futzing with the site. Weee. Not to get all (ya all 4 of you who actually visit this site) of your hopes up, but I'm in the process of redesigning the site. No more frames. Will be using Server Side Includes to reduce the amount of hard coded info. Hopefully some time in the next week or two I will have it done...
June 15, 19991:00 pm, site's back up! Yaaa! Thanks Geoff! So, the site seems to be down. Don't know when this update will be available... sorry to ya all. More on the conspiracy front - HAARP, a weather control device? Boiling the upper atmosphere? Many great links are available about this story, just use HAARP as a search term at Google.com or which ever engine you like. This article is quite good too - from Australia. Slightly more 'they are everywhere site, but good references to weather control. At any rate, some pretty crazy stuff. It seems that the folks in control of this device are just playing with it, seeing what the results are, without considering the potential danger. I don't know what the danger associated with pumping millions of watts of energy into our ionosphere, but I bet it isn't good! Here is an article of just general crazy shit. Deals with weather control, mind control, the Orgon stuff, etc. Totally unsubstantiated, but fun, some times scary, reading. Oh, to go with the fact that I'm reading Cryptonomicon, here is a FAQ about the Necronomicon. Just cuz they have similar names. And cuz I've always thought the idea of the Necronomicon is kind of neat. I know, I'm going overboard, but hey, its my site right? Check this out, The Scooby Doo / X-Files Conspiracy Theory. Pretty darn funny.
June 14, 1999Right, first off, I've was at the dentist today, and, bloody hell, my whole face hurts! Now, its no fault of the dentist, I have not been to see him in something like 5 years. So I really have to take the blame for how difficult it was to clean the gunk off my teeth. But I'm still bitter. Or in pain. Or both. Salon has two great articles by David Brin, one called "Star Wars" despots vs. "Star Trek" populists the other What's wrong (and right) with "The Phantom Menace". I love Brin's books and am enjoying reading these articles!
June 11, 1999And so another era comes to an end. DeForest Kelly, Dr. Bones, died on Friday. Neil Stephenson's new book, cryptonomicon is quite good! I've only started it, but it is a lot less... well, corny/cheezy then Snow Crash. Now, dont misunderstand me, I really liked Snow Crash, but some of it was pretty cheezy. I spent most of the weekend trying to forget all that shit about the contrails in the states, and just how crappy the world really is. I was pretty successful actually, and managed to have a pretty good weekend. Rented Buffalo 66, which was great. Also The Great Escape and Stalag 17. I was reminded of two other 'war' films that I watched years ago on Saturday Night at the Movies on TVO. Five Graves to Cairo and Ice cold in Alex. It was another hot and humid weekend, however it has cooled off now. I've heard that its going to be crazy weather all summer, yay. Crap. Anyway, I'm going to start to ramble in a very bad way if I keep this up, so bye.
June 7, 1999So, Tony was telling me about this story concerning contrails appearing all over the United States. Big deal, right? It's just jets. Well that's what I thought too. But I went to Art Bell's web site and surfed some links, Strange Haze, Will Thomas's site (journalist, author, videographer), this site has tonnes of links around this issue, this one too. Try this to get a page of search results from google (I really like google). I listened (you need realPlayer to listen to this show) to one of Art Bell's shows, and now... Well its pretty fuckin weird and scary, quite frankly. Decide for yourself. Another thing Tony was talking about was this stuff called Orgon energy... You can read about it at www.orgon.net, the ORGONE BIOPHYSICAL RESEARCH LABORATORY,Inc., PORE and many others you can find through Metacrawler with a search term of orgon. More strange stuff. Some times I really do wonder about how much is being concealed from us by them, whoever that is. It does seem more and more obvious to me that there is a lot going on that we are not made aware of. One example is Echelon (read the articles, pretty amazing), which has recently come to light. I mean, who hasn't felt that there is something going on behind our backs? But to start having it come out is, well, gratifying and frighting. Gratifying in that I can now gloat to all those who scoffed at me, but scary that there is all this back stage stuff going on. I wonder if any or as much would have been revealed if not for the Internet? If you think I'm totally on crack or have some really good evidence that things are actually getting better in the world, please email me and let me know! I'd love to share it with my friends! On a totally unrelated note, I just saw the new Austin Powers film. I can feel safe in recomending to anybody who liked the first one. Totally a blast. Go see it. Now. It will help make you forget about all the stuff above... At least for a while. <grin>
Ok, have finally archived my old news items. The main.html file was 13k, a bit too large. Down to 6k, much better. You can find the old news here.June 2, 1999
New geek ring graphics! Mucho thanks to Ryan for creating the cool image! Also, the code is _much_ better now! 4 sites on the ring right now, or as soon as they add the graphic to their sites...
Ok, quick, go here! Yep, Micheal got his web site up, and it is great! Nice flash menu bar, some games, pretty pictures, the works.
Well, this weekend was the first taste of the hell we are in for living in Toronto. Hot, Humid and Smog. 40+ with the humidex. Crap. And just for fun, a bunch of us went hiking on the hottest day of the weekend! We must have been on glue.
Finally got the PhotoCD's back from the store and have posted them in the youth group section. Pretty funny. Have to do another run of them, they are still a bit too big.
Ok, so i guess you may have noticed the 'geek ring' thing just above... Basically Tony, Ryan and I thought it would be funny to make a 'geek ring' for ourselves. Not wanting to have to succumb to the licensing practices of Webring.com, I decided to program it up myself. Seems to be working. Sure, its not as flash, and could be done better, but I like it. So thats the way it stays for now!June 1, 1999
Ryan has another update on his site...
Next Generation On-Line just had a review of Bloody Roar 2. Ya, cant wait to try it out!
Ok so Lalonde pointed out that, yes, he too was involved in the idea of the 'web ring'. My humble apologies to him for leaving him out. I'm really, really sorry. Honest. Ya, whatever. He doesn't even have a web site! <grin>
I'm sure you are all wondering "what has happened? no updates for 4 days? Jose must be dead!" Well worry not my friends, I live! I've been working on some other hush hush projects that you all will discover some time in, oh, September... Maybe. Bahahahaha!
Had a blast this weekend, nice weather, good fun. Was at a geek party on Saturday night. Found some very funny and strange sites : doodie.com, very ... well lots of shit. Literally. Twinkie Experiments. Fun With Lighters, I do not in any way condone or suggest you actually do this. But if you do, could you send me the pictures?
There were many more, but I've forgotten them in the haze of too many pretzels, games of Bloody Roar and Pop.
Am working on a webring script in perl. Just for the folks I know. A geek friend ring. Man, is that lame. Ah well, I am what I am...
I guess thats about it for now. I'm sure I will think of more stuff soon...
