  • Request / Challenge time folks - at the party last night there was a chick dressed up as a character from an old Animated TV series called "The Secret Railroad". I've done a quick search for it, and can find no info about the show online. If any of you do find anything, or if you remember the show, drop me a line - jos@theorganization.net Thanks!
  • Went to a Awesome Halloween party last night! Must have been the party to be at - almost everyone was in costume! The 'Heaven and Hell' party. Wicked. Also on Friday saw 'BEING JOHN MALKOVICH'. Very good weird film. See it.

TOP TEN REASONS WHY TRICK OR TREATING IS BETTER THAN SEX
    Submitted by W. Dotson

    10. You are guaranteed to get at least a little something in the sack.
    9. If you get tired, nobody gets an attitude.
    8. Maybe aches, but never guilt the morning after.
    7. You don't have to compliment the person who gives you some.
    6. Dressing up and fantasizing isn't considered kinky.
    5. If you don't like what you get, you can just go next door.
    4. It doesn't matter if anyone hears you moaning and groaning.
    3. Forty years from now you'll still enjoy candy.
    2. The uglier you look, the easier it is to get some.

...and the number one reason trick or treating is better than sex...

    1. YOU CAN DO THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD.

Thanks to Alex H. for that one.

  • We've been worried about the wrong thing all this time! It's not just the computers we need to worry about on the night of Y2K, it's the chemical companies! A US senate report states that something like 90% of chemical companies are not prepared for Y2K. Yikes.
  • Just added the Weather in Hell. Hope you like it. Bah.

  • New Playstation Game Info: RPG Maker
Budding Miyamotos among you have the opportunity to create your own epic Zelda-beater with RPG Maker for PlayStation. Agetec will release the follow-up to the beat-'em-up creator Fighter Maker in the spring. RPG Maker will allow you to create the locations, graphics, characters, and quests needed to build the perfect top-down RPG. The game has been available in Japan since 1997 and has sold 300,000 copies.
    From DailyRadar.com
Oh ya. Sounds fun. Perhaps not practical (how do you do new graphics?) but fun. I really wanted to get Fighter Maker. It looked fun too. Don't know how long it would be fun, but I do want to try it.
Do you remember the 'Adventure Construction Set' for the C64? Fun. Tony actually made some games, i think. I just fooled around with it. You can actually get it for the C64 Emulators out there...
  • Ok I'm going to try again to put up this piece on Ad banners and Privacy. This is the one that caused the mass deletion, so I'm a bit hesitant... But it is really really good info, and you should all know it. Here we go.
Read the actual article then follow this link to DoubleClick and opt-out of their cookie stuff. Download 'Junkbuster' - a proxy that screens out cookies from banner places, and does other good security stuff (there is also a hacked version which has some interesting enhancements). Then follow the directions below:
Allow cookies in Netscape. Change the cookies file permissions to read-only. Cookies will live only as long as Netscape/whatever is running, all the shopping carts work fine. When you exit, your cookies will not survive. The next time you get a DoubleClick ad your record is clean and the system gives you a new id since it thinks you are a new user. This will not only prevent them from logging you, it will also make their database explode... problem solved

  • Good look at what is available under opensource for groupware/intRAnet tools at Slashdot. Zope is looks especially cool.

  • <Swearing and Shouting Deleted>
(however, if you look at the source, you can still see it. If you care. Which you shouldn't.)

Yep, deleted October. All gone. Was really happy with it too. Sorry. Shit. Man, does that really piss me off or what. Crap. I just feel totally bummed out now. Let me just remind you all:

Make sure you back up your files!

    I even know this. Arg.
