Ok, so its been a while, alright? You got a problem? Wanna take it out side, bucko? No? I thought not.
In light of taking so damn long with the updates, i have managed to rearrange some stuff, and finally get some new photos up and on-line. You can click the above 'photos' link, or just click here to see what i've got so-far.
So, you know, i've got this crazy mortgage thing to worry about, but i thought i'd get into this somewhat expensive techie hobby, ok?
Ya, so with all the coolness going on around the wonders of 802.11b wireless networking, i thought i'd try my hand in it. For now i'm just reading and researching, but i do, once we've moved, plan on implementing a 802.11 network for my local neighbourhood. There are interesting projects already under way at the Bay Area Wireless Users Group, Personal Telco and Seattle Wireless. Another leader, or at least the first site about this kind of thing that i discovered, is guerrilla.net.
Anyway, that should be enough to get you started, there are more links below, and i'll probably start a page or pages about this project too...
Over the holiday at the cottage i finally managed to get to read all the Harry Potter books. Wow. They totally rock! I'm really looking forward to the next book, the fifth, and the movie in November. If you enjoy books about magic, you should really check them out - quick reads, excellent stories. And, if you have kids, they will love them too!
Also re-read (for like the 15th time) "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, in anticipation of Decembers release of the first film... Man, those are good books too. I'm partial to the quote, "And they sang as they slew". (i just looked that up at google, and was surprised to find so many links from that quote! The net is a crazy place)
I've have somehow, tho very late, come to find "the pixies". I don't really know how i missed this group before, but i did, and am now trying to pick up most of their albums cuz they are really really good. I've got "Surfer Rosa" and "Doolittle". Wow.
Also recently picked up "godspeed you black emperor!"'s new double CD "Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven". Excellent stuff. They are going to be in Toronto, Sept 28th at the Palais Royal, $12 bucks. Go.
So, like usual, i'm doing this late at night, with much less planning then i'd hoped (read: none), but it seems to be going well. However, i'm sure that i'm going to forget some brilliant insight i'd had wanted to write about, and i'll for sure not remember to add it into the next update (whenever that is). Ach, so is life, eh?
Happy B-day to Mary Q! Envious "have a blast" to Simpson at Burningman!
