"Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious." - George Orwell
Issue 8.0 - ??? 2001
Long long time
So much has happened since i last wrote, i've been kind of dreading doing an update! 911, new house, war, plague, films, pictures... lots. I don't even know where to start.
I could write about how i've been feeling, how scared, how unsure of everything i've been. Troubles sleeping, stress, all only made worse by work. The fear of not having work. Of not having family and friends one day, out of the blue with no warning. Sure, something could happen at anytime, to anybody, but it all seems much more immidiate. Feelings of hoplessness. Depression at the thought of crass commerciallism this holliday season. Globalization. Death.
But you know what? It snowed. Last week. And, i swear, i started to feel better. I don't know if its just that i need snow this time of year, or what, but i really am feeling better. Sure, things are pretty much the same, hell, possibly worse with the whole India vs. Pakistan thing, but... there it is.
Happy hollidays. Enjoy them if you got them.
Old content
Here are some old things that i wrote over the past few months, but never posted. Sorry if they are out of date.
Lord of the Rings
So, because we live in the center of the universe, aka Toronto, i had the opportunity to get to see the "A Journey to Middle-Earth" at Casa Loma. Pretty cool, the only bummer was that we some how managed to do everything in exactly the wrong order, so we were standing in lots of lines. I took some photos, but the f'ing batteries ran out just as i got to the swords! I usually have a second set, but of course i didn't that day. Now i know better, right? Girrrrr.
Halloween
Another halloween has come and gone and i've not really gotten out to do anything big. So much for it being my favourite event of the year!
One thing that i thought was funny was the number of kids, and not teenagers, that did not have a costume on. Like it seemed that there were lots. Next year we will have a bag with toothpaste and raisins for those kids. That'll show em!
Moving
So, we have moved into our new place in the two (more like three!) months or so between issues. The move went really well, and we are loving it in our own place. Pretty amazing, really. I don't want to go on at length about it, as it might sound like i'm gloating, but really, it rocks.
September
I had all these great ideas that i'd write about all the films i saw this year at the fest, but with all the crazyness around Sept 11th, the desire has left me. Its wierd, lots of people online wrote lots and lots about what was happening, which was great, but i have not been able to get my heart back into this site since then. Just trying to write something down, i know that i'm going to have to say something about Sept 11th, and i just don't know what to say - like, everyone has already said "it was like a movie", or "i can't believe it" or some varient on that theme. Bah, that's enough for now. it will take me some time to get it all worked out in my head...
