FEET DON'T FAIL ME NOW!
Rhino's Let's Dance! The Best Of Ballroom
Waltzes Into Stores On November 11
LOS ANGELES - Rhino Records kicks up its feet on November 11 with the
release of LET'S DANCE! THE BEST OF BALLROOM. The first of this
two-volume set features FOX TROTS AND WALTZES, the second salutes SWING,
LINDY, JITTERBUG AND JIVE. Both releases will be available in stores for a
suggested list price of $11.98 CD and through RhinoDirect at 1-800-432-0020.
LET'S DANCE! THE BEST OF BALLROOM was compiled by Laura Canellias, Enio
Cordoba, and Eric Goldberg, all dance instructors who recognized the need
for more contemporary music on the ballroom dance circuit. The two
compilations take dance from the classic Waltzes to modern day Jive and
Swing. Unlike current popular styles of dance where anything goes,
ballroom dancing is a skill practiced by two partners -- and more
importantly promotes healthy human contact.
Volume one emphasizes statelier steps, beginning with Fox Trots. Among the
tunes guiding aspiring Astaires across the floor are "Mister Sandman" by
The Four Aces and "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart" by Mel Torme. Helping
dancers glide across the floor in the Waltzes section are such standards as
"Charade" by Andy Williams and "In A Perfect World" by Melissa Manchester.
Volume two picks up the pace with Swing tracks like "Think" and "Chain Of
Fools" by Aretha Franklin and "Do Nothin' Till You Hear From Me" by Nina
Simone. "My Boyfriend's Back" by Melissa Manchester and "Rocket '88'" by
Buster Poindexter lead listeners through the Lindy. To shake, rattle, and
roll with Jitterbug and Jive, Carl Perkins sings "Jive After Five," and Joe
Jackson's Jumpin' Jive performs "Jack, You're Dead."
Canellias and Goldberg are both available for media interviews in support
of the release of THE BEST OF BALLROOM. For further information,
interviews, review copies, or cover art contact Cindy Laudati at Rhino
Media Relations, so put on your dancing shoes and ... LET'S DANCE!
