Your Center
Your Center
In WCS you can think of your center as being the center of your body at the height
of your belly button. This center is lower than in ballroom.
When moving in WCS think about pushing your center in a certain direction.
So in WCS you are down into the floor. You tend to be fully weighted on one full (or ball) foot all the time. Not more on your toes as in Lindy Hop. So, WCS is heavy, down and dirty and Lindy
is more on your toes (while being down and "dirty" as well).
As John Festa told me "you have to work the floor",
"the floor is your friend". This can be seen by looking at John's style. he squeezes his feet together using the inside muscles of his legs (to feel the floor better).
