Swing Dance Notation
Swing Dance Notation
count 3 a 4 means "on counts 3 and a and 4".
What this means is explained as follows:
Count the following with an equal interval between each word:
1 and a 2 and a 3 and a 4 and a 5 and a 6
So, stepping on 3 a 4 means stepping at the same time that you would say the 3 ... a 4
of the above line.
This is some notation that might be used somewhere.
- l/r means left/right
- L/F means leader/follower
- CHP means crossed hand position (shake r hands)
- LoR/LuR means left over/ under right handhold
- & means that we are in the middle of two beats of music
- L: means "the leaders footwork is " (analogous for F:)
Example
F: 1 step_r(f), 2 step_l(f) means Follower step forward with the right foot on count 1 and then step forward again with the left foot on count 2.
